After my training, I spent 10 years working in the standard medical establishment. I loved teaching and full-scope family medicine so much that I tolerated the growing burdens of corporate medicine. My own health issues and journey to find improved health opened my eyes to the corruption and inefficiencies that have interfered with providing care for my patients. The growing censorship and forced treatments that came with the pandemic response led me to say, "No more!" I can no longer support a system that puts politics and profit above the health and wishes of my patients while also dumping the increasing financial burden on them. With a lot of prayer and family support, in 2023 we walked away from the secure income of corporate employment. Opening Long Life DPC is my family taking a stand for you and having faith that it will work for us all.
I am born and raised Okie. I did live many summers in the north Houston area, but as the song says, I'm "Sooner Born, and Sooner Bred." My mom worked hard raising us, usually with two jobs and night school. She was a critical care nurse, so my sister and I grew up around the hospital. I guess it finally rubbed off since three out of four children went into the medical field. Through medical school, I found I loved all areas of medicine and loved building relationships even more! During my training, I discovered my passion for teaching. So, after I finished my fellowship in advanced obstetrics, I joined the residency faculty for the first 10 years of my career. As much as I enjoyed teaching, I knew it was time for a change. The Lord blessed my path again with the opportunity to start Long Life DPC. Now I get to focus on the relationships with my patients without the interference of corporate medicine and insurance.
